Ever since she could remember, Blake Hunter had one thing ingrained in her mind. Blend in and make sure to not stay in one place for very long. Most of all never trust the Others, supernatural beings whom lived side by side with humans. She didn't know what caused her to break those rules, but here she was living in Seattle, headquarters for the Other’s council and a private investigator specialized in paranormal cases to boot. What a mess. Her parents would be rolling in their graves. She was tired of running. She would rather stand her ground here and face whatever is to come. Blake checked her surroundings as she crept up to the house of her suspect. When she got to the front door of the house she twisted the light bulb of the porch light. Blake finally let out the breath she was holding when darkness covered the front porch. She couldn't afford to have any suspicious neighbors calling the police on her. Although it wouldn't be her first time being arrested while she was on a case. But she was already behind schedule and she really didn't want to have breaking and entering on her rap sheet. Blake Hunter is a private investigator and for the past two weeks she had been on a case regarding three missing children. For Packwood, Washington, a town that has a population of less than two thousand people three missing children left the town perplexed. The police had no leads and the circumstance surrounding their disappearance was strange. Two weeks ago Danica Boyka one of the missing children’s mother came to Blake seeking her help. Blake wasn't an ordinary private investigator. She investigates the strange and unexplained cases. Danica was last seen walking home with her teacher when she disappeared from her home. Every Tuesday she would stay with her cousin until her mother was off from work, but that day she went home. Like the other girls Danica deviated from her routine. What caused the girls to break their routine? That’s what Blake needed to find out. She interviewed those closest to the girls and they all gave similar answers. They had a scheduled they followed every day and they were involved in activities outside of school. But for the past two weeks the girls became withdrawn, secretive, tired, and anxious. The only things the girls had in common were there Russian background and their connection to their teacher, Eva Novak. It wasn't usual for Blake to cross paths with Others. Something other than the fact of not being human, Eva bothered the hell out of Blake. Besides being a P.I. Blake could sense other beings, their skin looked ethereal, almost. But mostly it’s the way they moved, more purposeful. The ones who had beast skins she would see their beast under their human skin. For the most part it was because whenever she was near them she felt their power. It was like static electricity on her skin. The more powerful the being the headier the static electricity they emit, choking her to the point that it made her dizzy. But being Other wasn't the reason why Blake was suspicious of her. She has an unusual beauty about her. Eva was only a few inches taller than her and has raven cropped hair cut pixie short set against alabaster skin. Her blue eyes are as clear as the ocean and her sweat smile seemed to fool everyone. Everyone, except Blake, she was the only one who sees behind that sweat smile to the true monster. Blake asked Nick, her sometimes friend, coworker and the local alpha who is a detective, to do a background check on her. But he found nothing. She was squeaky clean, too clean. So her she is breaking into the women’s home desperate to find a link that connects Eva to the girl’s disappearance. All based on a gut feeling. Blake had to trust her gut; it’s got her out of a lot of jams and solved a lot of cases.
